FAQs

How much does it cost?

We offer fixed-fee pricing for most Solicitor Certificates and ILA appointments. Generally, our standard service is $750.00 per person ex GST and disbursements. It is very competitive in an industry where it’s standard to see legal costs exceeding $2-3K.

Why can we provide this service at a competitive cost?

Simply, because we understand it so well. A lot of lawyers don’t have the experience we do in this space, and charge a higher cost as a result. We understand the complexitities of this work and the processes of banks. Accordingly, we can provide a higher service for a reasonable fee.

How long does the appointment take?
Usually 20–40 minutes depending on complexity.

Can this be done same-day?
Yes — subject to availability. We can offer weekend and after hours appointments also.

Do I need to attend in person?
Some lenders require face-to-face appointments; others allow video call. We will confirm your lender’s requirements once we have received your loan documents.

What does “independent legal advice” involve?
We explain the legal and financial consequences of the guarantee or loan you’re entering into and ensure you understand your obligations.

Why do I need Independent Legal Advice?

Lenders want to ensure guarantors understand the risks involved, especially if securing someone else’s loan. It protects both you and the lender.

What do I need to bring?

We need copies of your VALID identification. A drivers licence and passport (both valid), is best. If you cannot provide either of these documents, please let us know in advance.

If your lender has sent you original loan documents, please also bring these.

Do you advise companies, trusts or directors?

Yes. We regularly advise directors, trustees, company guarantors and family guarantors. If you’re unsure. Reach out. There’s no harm (or cost) in asking.

Can you assist families or elderly guarantors?

Yes. We are experienced in explaining documents clearly and ensuring all clients understand their obligations. We’ve conducted appointments at nursing homes, hospitals and healtcare facilities. However, these services are more costly, and do have additional requirements if applicable.
